The U of M Tourism Center is a beneficial resource for resort/campground owners.
As resort owners, we always appreciated the work of the many people who put time and energy into reporting the health of the tourism industry. Along with Explore Minnesota, and the various Chambers and Visitor’s Bureaus, the U of M Tourism Center has made a huge impact on how resorts have responded to changes in visitor trends.
The University of Minnesota Tourism Center was created in 1987, and over the years, their research projects have made an impact in every Minnesota county and tourism sector.
MN Tourism is a $16 billion industry, and the U of M Tourism Center helps those involved by providing relevant research and education that has science based solutions. They study current issues and trends that affect many aspects of the tourism industry. The results of their efforts help businesses and communities create and sustain strategies that will help grow tourism in MN.
Their focus areas include:
- Growing tourism leadership
- Community tourism development
- Creating positive customer service experiences
- Festival and event management
They have a 22-member advisory committee that represents the tourism industry across the state. The committee keeps the center in tune with emerging trends or concerns.
The Tourism Center website provides numerous webinars:
- Connecting Entrepreneurial Communities
